Renewable Energy - Technical Tours to Germany and Austria

Working with Farmer’s Weekly and Barfield Agritravel we have developed a series of specialist tours designed specifically to provide detailed information on the latest developments in the field of renewable energy and to provoke a wider discussion on issues surrounding the subject.

Full six day tours include detailed presentations and 12 technical visits to research establishments and commercial units producing liquid fuels, gas, heat and electricity from renewable resources including, energy crops, wastes and manures, wind, wood and sunlight.

·       Group visits to the European Centre for Renewable Energy at Güssing and Bioenergie Mureck in Austria can be arranged at any time

Biodiesel, bio-methane and woodchip technology are examined in detail whilst visits to Germany’s leading engine conversion specialists and a company working on a joint venture with John Deere and Scania provides the link between theory and practice in the fast developing transport fuels market.

Study groups are limited to 12 places to ensure adequate time at technical visits for each member to pursue specific areas of interest in sufficient detail.  Technical papers and background notes are provided as part of the tour.  The small group size encourages valuable discussion between group members and ensures an exchange of views and opinions.  The opportunity to network with likeminded individuals in this field has already been clearly demonstrated by the formation of an investment consortium derived from members of the party from the first renewable energy tour in April 2006 and the development of the Tiverton Energy Park Project in Devon.

Tours are accompanied by a local guide and Tim Evans of Renewable Zukunft who is an experienced farmer and agribusiness consultant who has farmed in Germany, speaks fluent German and has first-hand experience of renewable energy technology.

This is a technical study tour but the tour guides may be persuaded to include an occasional social event during the week if the party insist!
